Dr Gunjan Modi
Dentist
Dr Gunjan Modi is an airway-conscious dental practitioner with advanced training in orthodontics, dento-facial orthopaedics, and restorative dentistry. She has a particular clinical interest in growth-guided orthodontics and the relationship between oral development, breathing, sleep, and long-term health.
Her approach focuses not only on the alignment of teeth, but on understanding the wider functional environment in which the face and jaws develop. This includes assessment of craniofacial growth, tongue posture, airway development, bite dynamics, oral habits, and sleep-disordered breathing risk.
Dr Modi’s entry into airway-focused dentistry was shaped by personal experience. Observations of disrupted sleep and behavioural changes in her own son prompted a deeper exploration into the connection between breathing, facial growth, and systemic wellbeing. This led her to pursue extensive postgraduate training in airway-informed orthodontics, growth guidance, myofunctional principles, and interdisciplinary paediatric care.
Her assessments are comprehensive and function-led, often incorporating:
Evaluation of jaw and facial development
Analysis of bite function and muscle balance
Screening for airway and sleep-related concerns
Assessment of oral habits and tongue posture
Dr Modi believes that many orthodontic and developmental concerns cannot be viewed in isolation. Where appropriate, she works collaboratively with ENT surgeons, paediatricians, osteopaths, myofunctional therapists, speech and language therapists, sleep practitioners, and restorative dental colleagues to ensure care is appropriately sequenced and coordinated.
She is particularly passionate about early identification of functional and developmental concerns in children, with the aim of supporting healthier facial growth and potentially reducing the burden of more invasive treatment later in life.
Dr Modi is known for her calm and thoughtful communication style, placing strong emphasis on patient education and collaborative decision-making. Her consultations are designed to help families feel informed, supported, and empowered when navigating complex treatment choices.
She has completed multiple advanced postgraduate training programmes in orthodontics, airway-conscious dentistry, dento-facial orthopaedics, and functional approaches to craniofacial development, and continues to train internationally in this rapidly evolving field.
“Dentistry is not merely about aesthetics — it is a gateway to understanding deeper patterns of growth, function, and health. My goal is to practise with clinical integrity, personal care, and long-term vision.”
“I believe in better, if not the best.”
